WattWave privacy policy

Last updated

WattWave keeps its data on your iPhone. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The only thing that leaves the app is your purchase of the unlock, which Apple and RevenueCat handle. This page explains what the app stores and which network connections it makes.

What stays on your iPhone

Charge history (when you charged, how long, how much the battery gained and the adapter class WattWave estimated), speed test results (speeds, delay, time and network type), the names you give to devices on your network, your accuracy settings with the charger efficiency WattWave learned, and the date your 3-day free trial started. The trial date is kept in the device keychain, so deleting the app does not restart the trial, and it is not synced to iCloud.

The Home Screen widget and the Dynamic Island read this data through an app group on your iPhone. It is never sent to the developer or to anyone else.

Network connections

Speed test: when you start a test, the app downloads and uploads test data using WattWave's own test server at speed.yigitech.dev, and falls back to servers operated by Cloudflare, CacheFly and Hetzner when it is busy. As with any website, these servers can see your IP address. WattWave sends no account, device identifier or personal information with these requests, and the test server stores no data and does not log addresses.

Delay check: the app requests a small page from apple.com to measure round-trip time.

Network search: the Devices tab sends small packets to devices on your own Wi-Fi network and listens for Bonjour announcements. This traffic stays inside your local network, and the names it finds are not uploaded.

Purchase

WattWave is unlocked with a one-time purchase. Apple processes the payment. RevenueCat, a purchase service, receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase receipt and basic device and app details to confirm that the unlock is active and to restore it on your other devices. It does not receive your name, email or payment details, and WattWave does not use it for advertising or tracking.

Permissions

Local network is used only to list devices on your Wi-Fi, and is asked when you open the Devices tab. Bluetooth is used only to list nearby accessories and read the battery level AirPods broadcast. WattWave never connects to or pairs with them. It is asked when you open the Bluetooth view or turn on AirPods in the Dynamic Island.

You can change both at any time in iOS Settings.

What WattWave does not do

No analytics, no advertising and no tracking across apps or websites. The only third-party SDK is RevenueCat, for the purchase. WattWave does not collect location or contacts. The charging power is an estimate worked out on the device, because iOS gives apps no direct reading.

Deleting your data

In the Power tab, open the gear icon and choose Delete all my data. Deleting the app also removes everything it stored.
